Well hello there, Happy New Year!!!! It’s the start of a new time for each and everyone of us. And I bet that most have made a list full of thing that they want to change or that they want to start doing now that it is official season of change. But I purpose something. Instead of make a list of five to ten things we want to change or do this year why just have one word that will apply to every aspect of your life for the year.
I started this last year when I read the devotional One Word That Will Change Your Life on the Youversion bible app. This devotional, which is also a book, goes even more in depth about what this really is. Jon Gordon, Dan Britton, and Jimmy Page wrote it, and what it is, is basically picking one word that will serve for the year in every area of your life because having a list of things doesn’t work and you end up if you’re lucky doing one.
These are the overview points of the steps of One Word.
- Reflect on the past year and see where God wants to take you.
- Pray to God for the one word
- Live out your word
I find this One Word really helpful and affective. Because we receive a word from God and it’s the one you’ll focus on all year on. When we make lists of resolutions we never end up doing any of them because we only truly commit to doing things that we truly love. So if make a list of things we just want to commit to we end up not doing them but when we have one word that we love we will do our best to commit to it all year. So go on the Youversion bible app and look up the devotional “One Word That Will Change Your Life” and start it to get the real in-depth steps to start your One Word (because I’m pretty i didn’t do a very clear job explaining everything), even it technically the year has started already.
This year my word is Joy…what’s yours?
Also happy New Year again!!! I hope that everyone has an amazing 2016. I declare that it will be a year of wonderful things happening that will be bigger than we imagine ever done!! That the blessings of the Lord find you in every area of life! That your year is filled with joy and laughter! And that you are full of love to give and received into your life! Have a great year guys!!!
Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old.
Behold, I am doing a new thing;now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.
